DURST ZWEITEーTERRITORYー

With permission from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, I temporarily set up a 4-meter steel pole on the bank of the Misasa River, a branch of the Ota River in Kamifukawa, Hiroshima. I also received permission to temporarily install three more poles on the premises of a nearby former factory. While the objects themselves were all identical, they assumed very different meanings depending on the type of location. The river is state property, while the other place is privately owned. The idea behind the project was to expose these hidden aspects of location and possession. One rather odd result was the appearance of a panicked resident of the river area, who came to express his objection.

広島/ 上深川の太田川支河にあたる三笹川の石の上に、国土交通省の許可を得て高さ4 メートルの鉄塔を仮設的に立設した。その目と鼻の先にある工場跡地にも許可を得て仮設的に3 本の鉄塔を立設した。立設するものは同じであるが、それを立てる場所により意味合いは大きく変わってくる。河川は国の所有、もう一方は、個人の所有。それらの隠された所在、領土の存在をあらわにする試み。奇しくも、河川に設置中、隣人の方が血相を変えクレームされた事は一つの成果となった。
